James Steele Cosgrave born 18 May 1820 in Malone Ireland, Married 26 Nov 1847 in Ballylesson County Down, Ireland. His wife Anna, daughter of John O'Neill and Elizabeth Robinson. James Steele Cosgrave was involved in a Robbery and was disinherited from his fathers will. Instead of recieving 160pounds he was given 10 shillings. When his elder brother Alexander Died, he left his share of the land to James son Thomas and gave his brother the 160pounds. James and wife and children Thomas 1861-1900, Teresa 1849-1912, Norman 1859-1924, Ida 1862-1922, Alfred 1854-1927, James 1851-1921 arrive on board the Ida Ziegler in Aucland 29th October 1864 from London.
James Steele Cosgraves brother Alexander died 1858. His Sisters are Grace Woods, Eliza McCreight, Isabella Campbell, Margaret Anderson, Nancy Anderson, Olivia and Lucy. Lucy was born 1811. The Cosgrave family farmed 14acres in Malone. The land was originally leased by Daniel Cosgrave on the 26/6/1770, it then passed to his son Alexander and from Alexander to his son Thomas.
