Hello,
I am attempting to establish whether I might have any relatives in the Tagoat district of County Wexford.
My Grandfather, Lawrence Roche, was born there in 1878 and migrated to Australia in 1896, alone.
He had a number of brothers and sisters, some of which are shown in the the 1901 and 1911 Census as farming in the Townland of Slad.
His father's name was Nicholas and he was born about 1823, but not sure where. Although, he was buried in 1887 in the Barntown Graveyard, Co. Wexford.
His mother was Ann Hayes. She was born about 1842 and died in 1898 with registration shown as Wexford. Am unsure where she was born or buried.
From what I have found, he had seven siblings; Sisters were - Bridgit, Anne, Margaret and Anastasia (who married a Nicholas Stewart). Brothers were - Patrick, Nicholas and John.
Would be most grateful for any information.

Hi Lawrence,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone who recognises the family makes a connection with you.
In the meantime it may be an idea to also place a ?reaching out? message in a more local forum as given the number of siblings Lawrence had it is likely that there are still some in the area. Some places where it may be possible to do this are in a parish church newsletter or a local newspaper:
Wexford Echo: http://www.wexfordecho.ie/
Wexford People: http://www.independent.ie/regionals/wexfordpeople/
It may also be an idea to contact the local parish priest for some possible assistance. Here is a link to his contact information:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Hello Laurence,
Thank you for your reply re Wexford Roches which I have just found and apologies for not looking earlier.
Also, many thanks for the .pdf attachment which fills-in considerable detail that I was missing. I had just about exhausted my sources of information available from this end.
I would be most interested to see any photos and any other information that you would be prepared to share as nothing has been passed down from my grandfather or my father, except for a few basic details. So far, I have been unable to determine whether there are any relatives still surviving from the Roche side of the family around the Tagoat area.
Once again, many thanks.
Regards,
Lawrence Roche
