My great grandmother was Margaret Roche she was born June 9, 1873/Baptised June 13, 1873-Kildimo in Limerick. Her father was Michael Roche. He married Mary O'rourke (also known as Margaret Rourke) on 11 Feb 1861 at St Michael's in Limerick.
Margaret arrived in NYC on 1895 or 1896- most likely 1896. She mentions both dates in the Federal Census. So the exact year is still up for grabs.
She met and married James Carroll-who was also from Limerick as well. They married about 1900-1902
Their first daughter was born in 1903 (Lillian). They had 5 daughters.
James worked as a Hanson Cab driver for a private family in the Central park area and Margaret worked as a house Caretaker.
Margaret's father Michael-from what my family over here says supposedly worked as a valet for a colonel there in the Limerick area. I don't know how true that is. I am trying to find out more on the family.
