Grimes and Reilly Families

Hi Toni,

On the marriage cert does it say where in Kingscourt Jane was from & on the cert is should also say if her father Bernard was deceased.  What age was she when she married, I usually assume that parents were 30 when she was born, in order to start a search for them.  If its a case that you cannot make out the details on the marriage cert, if you scan it to me I will look at it for you.  There are lots of O'Reilly/Reillys in Co. Cavan, but I have contact with a few of them, so you never know what may turn up.

I could not find anything about Jane's birth/baptism.

Jane  died Jan 19, 1940 and the Glasnevin Record give her age at death as 75. This cannot be right. It would make her 11 when she married Patrick. In the 1901 Dublin Census her age given is 40 which would make her around 15 when she married Patrick. She obviously married very young. Patrick was about 18 years her senior.

Patrick's occupation when he joined the British Army in 1859 at Camp Currough was a weaver. He joined 2/10 Regiment and later moved to 1/19 Yorkshire Regiment. He gave his place of birth as Monasteravan Kildare. He had a brother James Grimes who was baptized in 1846 in Kingscourt.
