I've been researching my family history and through the Tipperary Family History Foundation, I was able to obtain baptism records for my relatives showing they came from the PallasGreen area of Limerick. I visited Ireland in October 2011, and I went to various cemeteries in the area. Unfortunately, I was unable to read the majority of the gravestones and as such, I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact town my relatives may have lived. However, when I was in Kilteely, I noticed the cemetery had many stones with the names Hanley and London (Lundon) which are my ancestors names. I was hoping for any information anyone may be able to share with me about the families in the area.
This is what I know:
Daniel Hanley married Bridget London (I have no birth, death or marriage dates for them), from the church records, I was able to find 4 children born to them.
- Johanna Hanley - baptized 12/12/1818, Pallasgreen Parish, sponsors: Timothy Hanley & William Ryan
- Ellen Hanley - baptized 08/03/1821, Pallasgreen Parish, sponsors: Gerald Grace & Honora Condon
- William Hanley - baptized 04/16/1824, Pallasgreen Parish, sponsors: Patrick Humphries & Mary Higgins
- Michael Hanley - baptized 10/02/1833, Pallasgreen Parish, sponsors: Timothy Hanley & Bridget Hanley
Michael Hanley is my direct relative, he left Ireland for Connecticut in the US around 1850 (give or take). I don't know anything about any of the other siblings.... like whether they stayed, left, married names, etc. I also can't find any information beyond Daniel and Bridget. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone has any information that may help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Erin Hanley

Hi Erin,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you.
In the meantime, did you know that Ireland is divided into both civil parishes and Roman Catholic parishes? Pallasgreen is a Roman Catholic parish in East Limerick, you can see it on the following map:
http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/limerickerc.htm
Here is a list of all the civil parishes that fall into the area that Pallasgreen RC parish encompasses:
One of the civil parishes is Kilcornan.
I did a search of the surname Hanley in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey carried out in Ireland 1848-64. It doesn?t give any genealogical information but can sometimes be used to tie a person to a specific place. I found an entry for a William Hanley in Kilcornan parish in 1850:
Here are the London?s that were recorded in Limerick:
I also did a search in the earlier Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38). There was a Michael, Matthew and Timothy Hanley recorded in Templebredon civil parish:
There were also some London?s recorded in the same parish:
Although it is hard to know for sure whether these are relevant to your search it is very possiblel that they are all members of the families that you are researching. If so, this will help you narrow down where they were living.
Kind regards,

Hi Erin
As a Lundon descendant to Catherine b.1820 in Wonderhill Kilteely I have researched tree for a male Lundon line back to 1715 in Bruff. William Lundon an MP for east Limerick born.1839 and buried with large statue in Kilteely. His son Thomas also a MP lived in London. Church Records do not go back beyond 1818 in Kilteely
I quess that the Hanleys originally lived close to Kilteely as many were buried in Ballinlough , Kilteely . I enclose some related records of Hanley living in Old Pallas Carrigkettle /Kilteely, Templebredin, Oola .

Erin, I reckon the Michael Hanley you refer to is on the record which I have linked below. I have a family link for Jeremiah Hanley who I think is a brother to Michael. We should be able to share some further information. You have correctly tracked Michael to the Kilteely/Pallasgreen area of Limerick. Can you give an email or other means of contact and I will share further information? I am from Kilteely.

B Ryan,
Yes, the Michael Hanley listed in the attachment you sent is my G-G-Grandfather. I'm not sure if Jeremiah would be a brother or a cousin of his, but I think they were definately related in some way. It's very hard to tell from the records I've been able to get. I would love to share any information I have with you and vice-versa. You can email me @ emhanley90@yahoo.com.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
