My Great Grandfather was Patrick John O'Leary (1812-1884). He married Johanna Sullivan (1817- UNK)
They had nine kids - I think. Catherine, Hanora, Johanna, John, Margaret, Julia, Patrick, Gobinet and Mary.
John Patrick O'Leary (1856-1924) was my Great Grandfather. He left Ireland around 1886 and settled in Wilmington, Ohio USA.
Hanora married John Denney and settled in Wilmington, Ohio USA
Johanna went to the USA and became a nun.
Patrick stayed in Ireland.
Julia married Thomas Mahan
Patrick married Hannah Buckley
They lived in Millstreet County Cork in an area called Adrivale.

I believe these are the 1901 and 1911 census records for your family. Although Johanna is only 64, ages in the 1901 census were generally understated. I'm guessing Cornelius and Gobinet were the same person. By 1911, Johanna had died and Cornelius had married.

Roger,
Thank you for your help but .... when I click on the link I just get an error message.
Can you direct me to the website or re-send the links.
I am very proud of my Irish roots. I am working hard to find out as much about my family as I can. I was in Ireland a couple of months ago. I do plan to return at some point.

Pat:
The National Archives census web site went down late Friday Irish time and is still down now at 10:00 Eastern on Sunday (I live in Maryland). I assume the outage is for maintenance even though I did not see a message earlier advising of a planned outage. I would keep trying. The main address for the census would be www.census.nationalarchives.ie

Roger,
I have been comparing my records against what you sent me.
Some of the dates do not line up. I will need to spend some more time with the info.
I know my Great Grandfather Patrick John O'Leary died in Jun 1884. I have a letter from one of his daughters that states that her father was dead in 1884. He was living in Millstreet, County Cork.
When I was in Millstreet in July I visited the Drishane Cemetery. There were a bunch of O'Leary's buried that but did not find my Great Grandparents.
I am postive my Great Grandparents had at least three kids ...
Hanora born 1848
Johanna born 1853
John born 1856 - my Great Grandfather
I think Hanora had an older sister .... my point. If Hanora was born in 1848 I have to believe her parents were born at least twenty years prior - 1828. My records have Patrick John O'Leary, her father, with a birthday in 1812. That would have made in 36 yrs old which doesnt seem right to me. I am think her father was born around 1825 or so.
Thanks for the help. You have given me much to chew on !!

I need to correct something I said earlier. I checked further and Gobinet is actually a female name. So if you don't have a Cornelius in your family then the two census records I sent you are not your family. There were two other Leary families in Adrivale in 1901.

Roger,
When I was in Millstreet, County Cork in July I met with someone that I have a family connection. Cornelius was his grandfather - I think. He took me to the cemetery and we visited some of the O'Leary's graves.
Adrivale is an area just outside of Millstreet. There were a number of O'Leary's living in the area. Most likely there is a family connection but I have not put it all together yet. I think the connection is with my Great Great Grandparents Patrick and Johanna (Sullivan) O'Leary. I think Patrick had a number of brothers and sisters.
