LOOKING FOR MY ANCESTOR, ROBERT MCCAY/MCKAY, BORN 1833, ANTRIM. HE MARRIED JANE LAVERTY IN 1858 IN LARNE, BUT RESIDENCE ON HIS MARRIAGECERTIFICATE WAS CAIRNCASTLE, KILLYGLEN. THEY LIVED IN DALRY/AYR/SCOTLAND FOR A TIME, BEFORE MIGRATING TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA IN 1865 ON THE "ADAMENT"
WITNESS TO THEIR MARRIAGE WAS JOHN LAVERTY AND JANE MCKEOWN.
HIS BROTHER, THOMAS MCCAY/MCKAY BORN 1826 ALSO MIGRATED TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA WITH HIS WIFE MARY ANN WALKER FROM LARNE, WHO HE MARRIED IN 1847 IN LARNE
MARY ANN WALKERS FATHER WAS SAMUEL WALKER, A WEAVER.
WITNESS TO THEIR MARRIAGE WAS CHARLES FERNES AND JOHN EWING.
THEY WERE PRESBYTERIAN.
THEIR FATHER WAS JAMES MCCAY/MCKAY, LABOURER AND MOTHER POSSIBLY MARY.

Tradition was to marry in the bride?s church, so that?d be the place to look for her baptism and that of siblings etc. If Robert McKay came from Cairncastle then you could look in the records for the churches there for his baptism (Presbyterian and Church of Ireland I would think). Copies are kept in PRONI, Belfast. They are not on-line anywhere as far as I am aware.
