Hi...I am trying to find information about my Kiely & Hennessy ancestors.  I have been searching for a couple of years for my grandfather's birth place to no avail.  Today, I retrieved a Church Marriage Record from this cite stating that who I believe to be my great grandparents were married in Galbally & Aherlow, County Limerick.  I am looking for any additional information I can find!

What I know:  the Church Marriage Record for who I believe to be my great grandparents:  Jeremiah Kiely married Margaret Hennessy (address: Monabola) February 16, 1858, parish/district: Galbally & Aherlow, County Limerick.  Both were Roman Catholic.  Witness #1 was Jeremiah Kiely and Witness #2 was Ellen Hennessy.

They had seven children all born in Ireland:  Kate, Michael, Maria, Jeremiah E.(born November 11, 1873), Ellen(Helen), Margaret and Patrick Joseph (my grandfather)(born March 11, 1876).  Mrs. Margaret Hennessy Kiely left Ireland for the United States with Patrick Joseph and possibly one or two of her other children sometime between 1878 and 1890.

I have been unable to find any other records of this family.  Can anyone HELP?!  With ANY information!!!

Thank you...Peggy Capozzi

  • Hi Peggy,

Thank you very much for your message. Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Perhaps you will be able to find the children?s birth records here. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:
