My husband's father and all his siblings were born in Cork, Ireland. His father Richard Quirke (with or without the 'e' at the end) was born in 1865 in Fermoy or Middleton, Cork, Ireland. His birth record says Fermoy but the 1901 and 1911 census say Middleton. He married Mary O'Shea in 1898 in Cork. They had 11 children: Mary Ellen (b_1899), Richard John (b_1901), Cornelius (b_1903 - d_1909), John (b_1903 - d_1904), Julie (b_1908 - d_1993), Dennis Joseph (b_1911 - d_1981), Alfred J (b_1915 - d_1940), Roger (b_1915 - d_1970), Kathleen (b_1919), Nora (b_1920 - d_1997), Elizabeth (b_1925). Richard and most of his children came over to London, England sometime after 1925. I think Mary died in Ireland but I am unsure about this. If anyone has any information on the Quirke's of Cork, I would be very interested to hear it. Many thanks, Gill Quirke

Gill:
I found the 1898 civil marriage index record for Richard and Mary which is below. I searched for Mary's death index record in the Cork registration district with no success. If you want a copy of this record which will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where they lived contact the GRO. Use this link.

Hit marriage application in English. A screen will pop up asking for a Use Name and Password. Hit Cancel and the form should come up. Fill out the form ask for a copy and also provide the quarter/year of marriage, registration district (Cork) abd the volume and page number ( 5 and 102). A copy costs around 4 euros. You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy to you.

Hello, Thank you for the information you found for me. However, I cannot make the link work to get a photocopy of the marriage certificate for 4 Euros. . If I clicked on cancel as you suggested, nothing happened. I did click on save and saved the form to my computer but I think that is to post or fax. Can I print off this form and email it? I am quite confused. Regards Gill

Gill:
There is a problem with their web site. I guess it is evening in England and Ireland. Why don't you wait until tomorrow and hopefully the site will be working properly then.
