Hi
I am trying to work out the family background of a grand-aunt by marriage who died in or around Ballyneety in April 1957 (probably aged in her early 80s).
She was born (somewhere in Co Limerick) and married my grand-uncle Henry Lyons of Mitchelstown around 1903. After his death in the 1930s it seems she went to live with a niece who was married to a guard in Ballyneety.
As there is a six-year-old niece, Alice McGrath living with the couple (who were childless) on the 1911 census for Mitchelstown, I take it that this is the niece in question.
However, if she married a guard she became Alice something else other than McGrath.
So any local knowledge of Alices and guards and Balyneety gratefully received!
Regards
Brendan

Hi Brendan,
I've tried searching www.rootsireland.ie/ for the marriage but it's not there!
There is a William Lyons who married a Catherine in Mayo in & there is a Henry K Thomas Lyons who married in 1903 in Tipperary but her name wasn't Catherine and a William Lyons who married a Catherine in Mayo in 1902 but no Henry and Catherine in any county in any year!
You might like to have a look on the site for Alice but you need to purchase credit.

Alice McGrath niece of Henry Lyons in Mitchelstown from 1911 census has relatives Donie Lyons living in the same premises in Lower Cork Street , Mitchelstown. He may know more about Alice.
