I AM LOOKING FOR COAKLEY FAMILY IN CORK, FROM WHERE MY FATHER´S FAMILY WENT TO BRASIL IN 1909. MY GREAT GRAND FATHER WAS DOMINIC JAMES COAKLEY, THE ARCHITECT WHO MADES THE FA?ADE OF THE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH ( F. MATTHEW QUAY STREET, AT RIVER LEE) IN 1898.
HIS DAUGTHER EDITH MAUD COAKLEY WAS MY GRANDMOTHER AND THEIR BROTHER AND SISTER CAME WITH HER TO BRASIL. THEY WERE VINCENT MARK COAKLEY, CLARE MAUD COAKLEY, ELIZABETH, MADGE AND ISABEL COACLEY.
OTHER CHILDREN CHARLES HOLMES COAKLEY AND LOUIS HOLMES COAKLEY DIED IN THE GRAT WAR.
THEY ARE SUCH A LOVELY PEOPLE, WITH A GREAT CULTURE AND FINE EDUCATION, THAT ENCHANTED EVERYONE WHO KNEW THEM. I HAD A SPECIAL ADMIRATION AND LOVE FOR THEM, THAT I MISS A LAND WHERE I NEVER BEEN. I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU HELP ME TO FIND ANY PEOPLE WHO ARE RELATED TO MY IRISH FAMILY.
I INTEND TO GO TO CORK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT I HAVE A SPECIAL DAUGTHER, WHO NEEDS FULL ASSISTENCE.
I THANKS SO MUCH YOUR ATENTION AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU.
IWONKA.

My mother was Patricia Dorothy Clark born 2/7/32. She married Dennis Martin in 1953 and had 3 children Lin, Me (Cathy) and Rod.
I knew my gran < Patricia Coakley who married my grandad William Clark. Her mother my great gran Mary Coakley died when I was very young and I met her several times in Aldershot, where they all lived, with my great grandad before he died.
Her son Dominic had 2 children Dominic and Ursula my cousins, with his wife Ann

Ilwonka,
In 2012 a Dominic Coakley died in Cork. You can see the information here: https://rip.ie/death-notice/dominic-coakley-clonakilty-cork/158375
There is a link to the funeral home. Perhaps they would put you in touch with living Coakleys in Cork.
I hope this is helpful.

Hello, my granddad's brother, Daniel Donovan married Julia Coakley at the church of St.Michael's in Blackrock, Cork. They were married on April 18, 1918. Daniel was a cattle dealer. Julia's father was Daniel Coakley. She lived at 25 Victoria Avenue in Blackrock. I do know they had at least two daughters, Eileen and Margaret. Julia and her sister went to boarding school at a convent. Julia's sister, Mary married a man named Moynihan. She is affiliated with the Moynihans who own the Long Valley pub. I wonder what happened to my Uncle Daniel and Aunt Julia and if they had any other children. But that's my Coakley connection.

Interesting for me as still researching my family that have some roots in Ireland. They are quite mixed so I am struggling but Cork is a major area for me as my Great Grandparents married there in 1887 in ss peter and pauls in Cork City. They were Richard McDonnell c1864 and Ellen Wilson c1865. As yet have not found exact parents for them.
Coakley comes in with Leahy in a tree I DNA match with quite a large match.
Coakley is mentioned at least 3 times in this Leahy tree but I am still stuck and I just hope something comes to light soon.
My Mums cousin a Dobson also has a small DNA match to a Finbar Coakley so I guess there could be a connection there too.
Ronald Dobson was my Mums cousin through my Nan Edith Dobson who married William McDonnell/McDonald in Newcastle upon Tyne in England which is where Richard and Ellen moved to and died there in around 1933.
I never knew my Grandad as he died in an accident was run over by a car I believe although was always told it was a bus but just says automobile on death certificate.Good luck to you all with your searches it will take me a while to read all these posts and maybe I will see something.
My Great Grandad Richard McDonnell c1854 was in the Army he had an Army career and when in Cork they were registered as living in Blarney Street and on Spike Island where my Grandad William was born in 1902.I was born near Newcastle upon Tyne so my Irish conections were totally unknown to me and I have no living relatives to ask about the Irish side in my tree which with DNA is scattered.
Another thing after glancing at above posts I live in Farnborough in Hampshire and I know Aldershot is a Military area so possible links but my Dad moved for work reasons so maybe just a coincedence.
Good luck all

My dad was Dominic Clark, son of Mary Patricia Clark nee Coakley who married William Clark. They had 2 children Dorothy and Dominic.
Dominic married Ann Quirk in 1963 and had 2 children - Dominic St John and me, Ursula. So you can see the family tradition of Dominic continues!
Dad often talked of Pompom who I believe was Dominic Charles and although I was too young to know either of my great grandparents, dad spoke about them fondly. Unfortunately, both my parents are no longer with us but Dominic St J lives near Exeter and I live in Southampton.
I visited Cork a few years ago and saw the Holy Trinity Church and the Irish Martyrs Memorial that Dominick Joseph Coakley was the architect for, I have photos which I will aim to share,.
Best wishes
Ursula
