Greetings from Australia,
I am seeking info on my Greatgrandmother, Annie Olive Clyne and her sister Mary Clyne. Both were born (of Edward Clyne and Ellen Moran) in Mohill, Leitrim in 1868 and 1863 respectively. (Annie may have been born in township of Drummond - according to unreliable info). All info according to death certificates.
Annie is believed to have arrived in Queensland in 1884 and then NSW two years later. Married George A Holden in 1890 in Balmain, Sydney.
Mary Clyne arrived before Annie but no reliable records. Married Henry Nichols in 1890 in Forest Lodge (Glebe area), Sydney.
Both women may have travelled to Australia on un-assisted passage but there are no accurate records of their voyages. They are both died reasonably early (at 56 and 46 respect.) but were mothers of healthy clans of Holden and Nichols children.
Any information on Mohill (or Drummond/Dromod?) birth records would be appreciated. Also cannot locate any other decendants of Edward and Ellen Clyne from 1901 Census etc.
I would love to also gain any info about Henry Nichols who may have come from the same area. Given that Mary Clyne arrived at age 19 but then married Henry at 24/25, they may not have know each other before meeting in Sydney.
Many thanks for any clues or tips or family info...

Hi James,
There were and still are Nicholl in Mohill, Leitrim.
http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=1&confirmPageView=Y This is a pay per view site but the 1858 birth of Henry looks interesting. Can't see a birth record for either of the girls but Griffith's Valuation shows some Clynes in Leitrim which could give a clue as to where they lived although it may be the grandfather;s name which shows.http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=griffithsvaluation&rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=angs-d&gsln=clyne&msypn__ftp=Leitrim%2c+Ireland&msypn=5309&msypn_PInfo=7-%7c0%7c1652381%7c0%7c3250%7c0%7c0%7c0%7c5309%7c0%7c0%7c&cpxt=0&catBucket=rstp&uidh=ri4&cp=8&gl=&gst=&hc=50&fh=50&fsk=BEFB64QIgAAE9QAObuE-61-

Greetings IXO Kin,
Thank you for previous answers & info....
I have now established that most of the Edward Clyne & Ellen/Elenour Moran clan were based, or ended up at (married into Boahan family) Carraun, Letrim. Either there or Drumnid close by. All can be seen in the 1901/1911 census for the area.
There were three sisters who eventually left for Australia & one orphaned grandson who made his way to the USA.
My wife & I & my sister are now planning a brief visit to the area in September, 2016 - we would like to find;
1) Graveyards or cemeteries in the Mohill, Carruan or Drumnid areas... to trace Edward or Ellen or families.
2) If households listed in the 1901/1910 census correspond to known houses/homes as they are now
3) Specific Local History repositories/places for research in the local area
Many Thanks,
Jock O'Keefe
