I am searching for relatives in Ireland who may be descended from Patrick Carroll of Lambtown, Ardee,County Louth, parish of Mapastown, and his wife, Catherine McHale.

Their children included Patrick (my direct ancestor) Michael, James  and John who emigrated to America, and Andrew who kept the property in Lambtown and had a large family there. Two other brother were Thomas, possibly the first born, baptised 1810, and Francis, bap. 1823. The records in Ardee Parish of this familly are sketchy, but among the girls were Margaret (1811), Mary (1813), Cath (1825).

I want to know from whom Patrick, the father, descended  and who built the house in Lambtown. I know from Griffith's Valuation that the family paid rent to Charles Cobbe. Did the Carroll's own the house when it was taken over by the landlords or did they move into it later?

The younger Patrick (b.~1811)  married Ann McCloskey, possibly in Ireland, c.1841. He had three daughters born  in South Carolina and he died there c. 1895. He is my ancestor.  I want to learn where Ann came from, when and where they were married. In our family oral history we came from Westmeath. Could she have or did the Carrolls originally come from there?

A younger brother,Andrew (b. 1832) remained in the house in Lambtown after the death of his mother, Cathy. He still  lived there in 1911 per census with his son, Patrick, whom I believe to have been single. Presumably Andrew's other children settled around the area. I have seen partial church records in Ardee recording their births...he married Mary Gargan and they had the following children:

Catherine baptised 28--05-1855  Source Parish of Ardee Baptism Record

Patrick       bap.30-04-1857

Bridget      bap.14-05-1859

Rose          bap   13-02-1861

John          bap. 12-05-1863

James        bap. 31-03-1865

Margaret   bap. 20-08-1871

Rose (another Rose?) 11-11-1873.

Are there children of this family in the county and how can I find them?  Patrick was single and presumably had no heirs, but how about the rest of these children?

Any guidance in this search would be appreciated so much. Where do I go next? Many thanks.
