I have hit a wall in researching John Minton of Ballycarnane, Killeagh, will probated 1708.  This John was either married to, or the son of Elizabeth, dau of Henry Hastings, born 1671.  There is a 2nd John Minton, will probated 1720, but no reference to a townland in The Calendar of Wills, Cloyne, 1620-1800.

I find no known related families who had links to Killeagh in any of the resources which I have searched, to include the Col. Grove White notes, the Downs Survey, Brady’s Clerical and Parochial Records, and the rootweb.com Registry of Deeds Index Project.  As a long shot, I might mention that there were connections/associations with the Barry, Atkins, Deveraux, Crofts, Freeman, Leader, and possibly the Upton families during this time period, but I haven’t found anything near Killeagh.  My search has been further frustrated by this Minton family relocating and becoming landowners in the areas of Bandon and Kanturk by the mid-1700s.  The original John Minton was also reported by Burke’s as having a connection to Limerick.

Might someone be able to suggest a resource to research the landholder/lessees of the Townland of Ballycarnane during this time period?  Are there any extant local parish records for the likely Church of Ireland for residents of Ballycarnane or surrounds during this time?  The early descendants of John were consistently named John, Thomas, and Stephen.

Thanks to anyone who might have some information or an idea.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query.

Have you looked at the landed estates database for Munster at the link below? Sometimes the ?archival sources? listed at the end of each page of search results can be very useful in pointing a researcher to a lesser known archival or published book source

Best of luck with your search
