~~My GGGGrandparents were James Moore and Catherine Dunbar. James and Catherine appear to have died before 1860. An obituary for their son,  John Moore, 1800 - 1862 lists them as from Tonnagh-more, near Fintona. James and Catherine had other children: John, James, William Dunbar, and Jane. William Dunbar Moore was my GGGrandfather and a Methodist minister. I have obtained documents from the Methodists concerning him and his brother John who stayed in Ireland and was a Methodist Class leader. William came to the US in 1832 with one sister. I have also looked in the PRONI for Donacavey Parish Moores. John also appears in Griffith's Valuation as the son of James Moore. Does anyone know of any present descendants of this family? A family home? I am interested in anything related to them. Thank you.

  • You enquire about a family home. Griffiths shows that there were two John Moore farms in Tonnagh More. The one that I think relates to your immediate family was plot 6 which is listed with the agnomen (James) probably indicating John's father.  That was farmhouse, outbuildings and 37 acres. It was just beside Tonnagh More school and is just off the modern Killyliss Rd. Easy enough to locate today, should you wish to do so.
