I went to www.rootsireland.ie and found John Singleton born to Edward Singleton and Mary Bennett in 1858 in Co. Cork.

I also found Elizabeth born to same parents in 1854 in Co. Cork

and Catherine born to same parents in 1845 in Co. Cork

You would need to register with this site (free) and it costs approx €5 to view these records.

Hi Rita,

If you go to www.askaboutireland.ie and click into the Griffith Valuation, it will bring you to a search page. Put in John Singleton's name and Co. Cork.  You will get a number of records.  If you go along the page you will see some icons showing you the amount of land rented and from whom.  another icon will show you the map of the townsland.  I would hazard a guess that Dromtarriff is quite near the other townslands in which John rented land.
