My Maternal 2nd Great Grandfather was Thomas Cooley from Galway. He was born around 1812; He married Catherine Kane in 1838; They had nine children. Martin, Patrick and John were born in Galway. Catherine, Thomas (who died between 1855 and 1860), Margaret, Michael, Thomas F., and Peter were born in the United States in Mohawk, Montgomery County, New York.
Thomas F. Cooley was my Great Grandfather. He moved to Savannah, GA following the Civil War; The 1880 US Census shows him in Savannah. In 1885 he married Margaret Helen Logan in Savannah. Together they had seven children: Thomas F. Jr, John Joseph, Joseph Martin, Peter Meldrin, Gertrude Irene, Helen Margaret, and Michael Thomas. Michael Thomas was my maternal grandfather. He was born in 1906 and died in 1958.
Michael Thomas married Virginia E. Storey. Together they had five children: Thomas Michael, Margaret Helen, Virginia, Catherine Theresa, and Michele Bernadette. Catherine Theresa is my mother.
I do not have much to go on beyond the U.S. Census records indicating the Cooley's were from Galway and based on those records they immigrated to the United States between 1844 and 1852.
Any additional information regarding the family in Galway would be much appreciated.

Dear Patrick
I have just replied to your query re your Wexford ancestors. I suggest you follow the same course of action for your Galway family. Records for some parishes in Galway begin quite early, so you may be lucky in your search.
Let us know how you get on
Best wishes
