Trying to find out where my greatgrandparents lived before coming to the United States. Patrick Sullivan was born March 3, 1808.  His wife Ellen Katie Walsh was born May 5, 1810. Both were born in County Cork and married in Doneraile about 1829.  They left for US in 1883. I have letters written by Patrick Sullivan that state he lived "up in the mountains in the cottage on the hill" with John Harold Barry of Ballyvonare. I would very much like to know where this is so that I can plan a trip to visit there. I also would like to find out where they lived before and where their families lived when they were born.  Any info on my ancestry as well as any links to relatives is greatly appreciated.

  • www.thecore.com/seanruad has the complete list of townlands in Ireland. I searched for townlands in Co. Cork which started with Ballyvo  and got the five below. None of the five are near Doneraile. However, there is a Ballinvonear townland in Doneraile civil parish and I'm wondering if that is the one you are looking for. Doneraile is in north central Co. Cork near the border with Co. Limerick.
