~~I'm a descendant of Capitan Thomas Morris.   He was born in Wexford in 1750.  His parents were Matthew Morris and Mary Murphy.  He married Catherine Samson in Quebec in 1781.  Thomas served in the siege of Qu?bec and the Battle of Valcour Island, Valcour Bay, NY, which took place on 11 October 1776, on Lake Champlain. Brought Loyalist settlers to Gasp? coast as Master of the hoy, the "St John". Morris, a founding family of Douglastown, QC.

I'm looking for information about the Morris family in Ireland.

  • Hello again!

I think in relation to this query, it would be a good idea to contact the Wexford Historical Society as they may be best placed to provide some information about Thomas. Many of these historical societies have already published articles about prominent figures, matters of historical importance etc. Do you know where and when he joined up?

Please let us know how you get on
