My mother, Johanna Marie O'Mahony, traveled from Cobh to Ellis Island New York sometime in 1949. I am unable to locate the name of the vessel that she came over on. I have searched passenger lists and have come up empty! She was born on Feb 10, 1933 in Fermoy, County Cork. Any direction you can give would be most appreciated!

Hi Florence
I'm not sure if you've tried the Ellis Island site.
There are a couple of Johanna O'Mahoneys but the dates don't match yours; one is from Cork though.
However there is a Johanna O'Mahony on ancestry.com:

She arrived on the Baltic in 1911 aged 1; she was a detained alien coming to her sister Mary Hudson.
This is the only one I could find where the age matches; none in 1949 I'm afraid.

Sorry Florence!
I got excited about the 1911 record but realised your mopther was born much later!
There is a John O'Mahoney in Fermoy in the Irish phone book (free online0; I wonder if he woud be related and happen to know about Johanna?

Hi There
try this site, I think it is free to ask as they have a contact page from their website for Cobh.
The name is sometimes spelled O'Mahoney in case you get stuck.

My mother was Johanna O'Mahony, b.1921, arrived I think in the US in 1922 or 1923. I know her father James came first and his wife, Annie (nee Mitchell) O'Mahony came later. But I'm not sure what ship they came on or even which year any of them got here. Any suggestions/
