Could someone please help with a parish name in Tipperary?
My great grandfather's name was Michael Mackey, son of Patrick Mackey and Margaret Quain. He was born about 1860, married to Johanna Gallagher in Australia in 1886; he could not write.
On the marriage certificate his place of birth was spelled GRANGHON, Tipperary, but I can't find any reference to this place. Is it possible that this is the priest's version of what he was told, as great-grandfather couldn't write? I think the actual place could possibly be Drongan, but would love it if someone could enlighten me.
Many thanks

Hi Rhelma
There is a record of the baptism of Michael Mackey with father Patrick and mother Margaret in Tipperary 1857 on www.rootsireland.ie/
The parish is CLOUGHJORDAN RC.
