As you believe William was born in Kenmare you will have to look at the records on irishgenealogy.ie as this site (which is free) provides access to the church records from Co. Kerry.

There is a William Smith listed in the parish of Listowel, though it would be difficult to know if this is your William as it is a bit of a distance from Kenmare and we don't know his parents' names so can't cross reference that info:
