  • Annette:

There are two Carrigfadda townlands in Co. Cork and it appears that you would want the one in Ross civil parish which is near Kilkerranmore parish. Below is the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ross civil parish. There are no Rashly/Rashley/Rashleigh entries but there is a Malcolm Rash. Not sure if he is connected. I would contact the church in Rosscarbery and see if they can help with the old cemeteries. Ironically, one of the subordinate churches to Rosscarbery is St. Peters in Carrigfadda which dates to 1908.

  • Hello Annette,

I have information about the Rashly/Rossley family.  I am a descendant of Daniel McCarthy and Mary Rashly/Rossley.  My great grandmother was Daniel and Mary's eldest daughter, Anna Eleanore.  I have done research on ancestry and am familiar with your ancestor, Mary's brother Thomas.  As it happens he and his wife Anna Doyle were married in the same church as my husband and I were in St. Anicet Quebec.  I would be happy to send you the information that I have if you can contact me.

I recently returned from Ireland and was able to visit the Rossley homeplace in Carrigfadda and also the church in Dunmanway where Mary and Daniel were married.  There are still descendants of Edward and Mary living where the Roshely homeplace is.  And we were also able to visit St. Peter's CHurch nearby which was built on land donated by the Rashly family.

Hoping to hear from you,   Best regards, Patricia
