I looked at the two main sources for RC records for Co. Cork and did not find a likely record for William. Many parishes do not have records back to 1834.

I looked at www.irishgenealogy.ie which is a free site which has the records for the Diocese of Cork and Ross. They had one William Dunn baptism coincidentally in 1834 but the parents were different than what you indicated in your note.

The remainder of the Co. Cork RC records are found on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie  There were two 1839 baptisms for a William Dunn/Dunne father William but the mother was Mary not Margaret. This could be the same person listed twice on the data base. 1839 seemed a littel late for your insterests.

Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.

  • Thank you Roger
I checked my certificates again....Victorian Marriage and Death....and both stated that William Joseph's parents were William and Margaret Hern. and the dates seem to indicate 1834 approximately for his birth
His marriage certificate states he was born in Cork but the death cert states his birthplace as London ??? Strange because he had 3 adult children who should have known however it didn't list them. MY father who was his grandson definitely said he came from Cork SO I suppose it will remain a mystery
