JoAnn:
Below is a link to the 1901 census for a Breen family in Sugarhill.

I did locate Caseys inMaiden St. Newcastle in the 1901 census. Were John and Bridget husband and wife? How old were they in 1901?

Dear Roger
Thank you for your response. Yes, I was aware of the 1901 census and the 1911 census.
My paternal grandparents were Maurice and Mary Breen at Sugarhill in 1901. My grandmother was Hannah Breen who married a John Casey from Cork. John Casey died in 1907/1908 and that is why he is not shown in the 1911 census. Victor aged 3 in that census was my father.
I really appreciate your message though. Thank you. JoAnn Casey

JoAnn,
We are related!
One of my great-grandmothers was Margaret Breen of Sugarhill, a sister to your Hanna (Johanna). I have a lot of work done on the Breens and will be happy to share with you. Margaret was the 1st born, Johann was 5th born. The Breens came from Knockanure Co Kerry and settled in Sugarhill around 1870-72.
Hope you pick this message up soon.
Rgds,
John Stack (my mother's grandfather Patrick O'Sullivan married Margaret in Templeglantine.

All my life I have had trouble with other people's spelling of my name. I know my father's intention was that it should be the same as his mother's! It was only when I visited Newcastle West and viewed the Parish records that I realised that he had made a spelling error. I am so, so glad to hear from you ! xxx
