Hi Tom
I want to thank you for the information re O'Donnell and Franklin families - I was so suprised to find some records were in Co.Waterford. I thought with the family living in Upper Abbey Cahir all records would be in Co.Tipperary
I am at the moment searching on rootsireland and finding my way around the site, sometime I have entered names etc; and found nothing so obviously looking in wrong area
As regards Bridget O'Donnell born 1890 - this isn't the Bridget I was looking for. I found a Bridget working on a Farm as a Servant in 1911 (see below) it states she was a Farmers Daughter from Caher, So I am hoping this is the Bridget I need ( I copied and pasted below from 1911 Census.)
ODonnell Bridget 19 Female Servant RC Catholic
I know Bridget came to England, but never mentioned her family in Ireland - why we dont know. On her marriage certificate she entered her father as Thomas O'Donnell Road Mender and not John O'Donnell Farmer!! I applied for her Birth Certificate from Dublin with the info taken from the marriage certificate - it came back with a comlimentary slip saying ' The enclosed certificate was the only one in Cahir for a Bridget born September 28th 1890.' Imagine my suprise! Why did she state Thomas as her father, she also told everyone that she came from Clogheen and was very vague on info. Clogheen is the registration district as well as a small town. She obviously didnt want to give any information that might trace her. (what else do we think) I question the fact of the info she gave and wonder how do I trace this family
I have just searched the 1901 census for Bridget aged 11 from Cahir Co Tipperary and as I mentioned before she is missing in this census - so I then searched for Co Waterford and found a Thomas O'Donnell (60) and Bridget (40) with a daughter Bridget aged 11 in an area of Ballyin, Waterford, but think this is incorrect.
I have hit so many brick walls in the last ten years of searching that I often thought of giving up on this search so I was delighted when I came upon the Ireland Reaching Out site while browsing,
So getting a link to other members of the family is brilliant
Regards
Doreen
