I am looking for information on John Leddy b. cir 1808 supposedly from County Cork.  He married Bridget Masterson b. 1808-1812 in Ireland cir 1833. From this union were 6 children:  1) John b Mar 1835; 2) Thomas b. 1837; 3) Bridget b. cir 1841; 4)&5) twin girls Mary and Margaret b. 1843; 6) Patrick b 1846 in County Cork.

John & Bridget Leddy and their 4 youngest children departed from Liverpool, England and immigrated to the United States aboard the Bark Susan ship and arrived 6 May 1848 in Boston, Massachusetts. John and Thomas Leddy immigrated to the US at an earlier date.  They settled in Delaware County, New York, USA.

John immigrated to the US with Thomas b. cir 1818; Ann Leddy b. cir 1818; and their daughter Ann b cir 1842.  They possible could have been John's brother, sister-in-law, and niece.

Any information you may have relating to the Leddy family would be sincerely appreciated.  Especially the parish name and the town in which they lived.

I checked the Tithe Applotment listings for Co. Cork and I believe your Leddys came from Macroney civil parish  which is in northeast Co. Cork near where Cork intersects with Co. Limerick and Co. Tipperary. The Tithes showed they were in an area called Ballyvena

which is not an official townland and is now called Gortnaskehy. See the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Macroney parish.

I also checked the Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie indexes and I found baptismal records for a John Leddy in 1834, Bridget Leddy in 1843 and a Patrick Leddy in 1848. All of the records showed the fathers name was John and all the records were in the Kilworth RC church. Kilworth church included Kilworth parish and Macroney parish.

Roots is  a pay site to view the transcriptions of church records. Roots now requires a subscription to view the transcriptions.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Leddy' families are present in Araglin ( North East part of Kilworth parish) and one family lives  at Gortnaskehy. Mastersons are popular in Glanworth area.
