I am searching for the parents of my great, great, great, great grandfather and grandmother. Here are some of the details I have on them:
Timothy Fitzpatrick (born about 1818-1820, died 1898) and his wife, Ellen O’Neill (born about 1823, died after 1883), came from Ireland during the potato famine when so many Irishmen and their families were leaving their country in search for a better life. We have not been able to pinpoint the area they came from as of this writing (2004). One record found on rootsweb.com written in 1964 by a grandson, Albert Ward, states that they came from the City of Cork. Timothy was poor and his grandmother was rich; therefore, he had to steal her and bring her to the United States.
August 2, 1850, census of the Western District of Botetourt County, Virginia, Ellen is not shown as a Fitzpatrick but as a Nihill or Neheil which has been anglicized into O’Neill. This record shows:
Timothy Fitzpatrick, 28, male, laborer, born Ireland
Ellen Nihill, 25, female, born Ireland
Jerry Fitzpatrick, 2, male, born N. Hampshire
John Fitzpatrick, 1, male, born Connecticut

Hi Gladys
There is a record of the baptism of Timothy Fitzpatrick 12 Dec 1820 in Cork on www.rootsireland.ie/ (which is a subscription site). The parish is Ballyclough R C Parents Jeremiah Fitzpatrick & Elizabeth Connolly
There are too many Ellen O'Neill birth/baptism records (with surname variants) to know which is yours.
There is also a record of a marriage of Timothy Fitzpatrick & Ellen NEIL on 14 Sep 1844 on www.irishgenealogy.ie/ (free site)
Area: Cork & Ross R C Parish Kilmacabea; no parents' names are given.
There is a record of the birth of Jeremiah Fitzpatrick 29 Jan 1809 in Ballyclough; parents John Fitzpatrick & Ellen Callahan; the parish is right (same as Tim's) but the 1809 should be 1800 as he would only have been 11 when Tim was born!
You might want to post to the Ballyclough experts on the site to see what they think.
