Searching for Robert White's origins. b. 12 July 1840.
Parents maybe be John White and Katherine Gallee.
Stated by family he was from Ballymoe.
Emigrated at approximately 19 years of age in 1859. Story is he went to New Orleans, La. Worked as a bricklayer and went up the Missippi River to St. Louis. He married an Amirican born Irish girl, Margaret Meehan.
Family story is he later paid for his sister's passage to America.

I checked Roots Ireland for a baptismal record for Robert White but could not find a record. I also checked the 1856 Griffiths Valuation for Ballynakill civil parish (Ballymoe barony) looking for a John White but there was no record.
Let me know if you have any other information or have questions.
