Looking for Bertram Charles Furlong's family and more information on his family.  He was born January 15, 1888.  His father's name is Michael John Furlong and his mom's name is Elizabeth Wakefield.  Sorry I do not know their dates of birth.

 I do not know when Bertram left Ireland and if his parents left with him.  He ended up in the Northwest Territories, Canada.

Any help will is greatly appreciated.

  • Based on his Probate Calendar entry that Michael John Furlong located by 'Mallow Cork' was a Farmer. Best possibility on the 1911 census in this household, Michael J. with his wife Katherine M., and their children, everyone in the household born Co. Wexford.

    @Ellen - did you order the birth cert mentioned in reply to your earlier topic ?

    Michael's occupation on this, might help figure out why they were in Cork..

    Edith Amy Furlong Jan – Mar 1885 Vol 5, page 530;
    Henry Ernest F Jul – Sep 1886 Vol 5 page 507;
    Alfred Gordon F Jan – Mar 1890 Vol 5, page 479.

    No sign of any of these on the Irish census returns that I could find

  • following on from the dates for those children, there's this possible marriage showing on the BMD Index :

    Name : Lizzie Anne Wakefield
    Event Type : Marriage
    Registration Quarter and Year Jan - Mar 1883
    Registration District Cork
    Volume 5 / Page 99

    One of the cross-matches, and therefore potential grooms, is a Michael Joseph Furlong - not exact match for the name you have, but given how rare the Wakefield surname is, I think is worth following up...
