Hi,
I am looking for the parish of William McIntyre, b. ca. 1822 and his wife Catherine Reilly, b. ca. 1828, who are from somewhere in Donegal. There was a William in Moville in Griffith's. They married ca. 1842 and had William Jr. in 1843. They left for Scotland then America shortly after that. The Donegal Ancestry Center tried, but came up empty. Thank you.

Michael:
I assume your ancestors were Roman Catholic and unfortunately there are no RC records available back to the 1820s for Co. Donegal. I also looked for the 1842 marriage and the 1843 baptismal record with no success.
The Griffiths survey was conducted around 1858 in Co. Donegal which would have been after William left for Scotland. There are a good number of McIntyre's in the Griffiths for Donegal. See www.askaboutireland.ie
If you haven't already, I would look for William's death record to see if his parents names were included. Another suggestion would be to try Ancestry.com to see if there are any family trees for the McIntyre family.

Thank you sir. Did all the above. I have been at this for more than 30 years, so I am grasping at straws.

Roger,
Did you check just the Moville records? If I wanted to check Killybegs (because of an 1834 Tithe mention), do I join that group and ask them?
Thanks,
Michael

Michael:
I checked all of the Catholic parishes in Co. Donegal. For some reason none of the Catholic records exist for the early part of the 19th century. Donegal is the most difficult county to research Catholic records. Killybegs records start in 1850.
Below is the link to the 1858 Griffiths for Killybegs Upper civil parish which includes the town of Killybegs. There were McIntyres in the parish.
