Thank-you. My Great Grandfather's name was John Foxton. Would love to know if this John Foxton was a relative of his. Hard to know, of course. My Great Grandfather apparently was born in Glinrany County (although I was told it was Glynranny) in 1820 and immigrated to Canada in 1829. Thank you for responding. That's more than I had before!!!

Hi Foxy,
GenForum (Genealogy.com) have a post from LucyOn seeking info on Edward and Elizabeth Ferris. Their children's names were Edward , John (born 1819, near Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, died 1899, Merlin, Ontario).and a daughter, name unknown.
There is also a Laidlaw/Anderson family website( andersononline.net) which mentions John. Maybe they might have more information.
If John's birth was registered in Enniscorthy, it is unlikely that he was born in Glenranny, which was in the Gorey registration area.
The John mentioned by seanmacd who died in1829 also had ason John who lived all his life in Glenranny. I have'nt found a link with your John yet.

My gt.gt.grandparents were Edward Foxton Sr. and Elizabeth Ferris of Co. Wexford, Enniscorthy, Ireland. I don't know if Edward Sr. died before the family emmigrated to Canada. There were three children, Edward Jr., John and sister Kit, all born in Enniscorthy. I only have John's Date of Birth of 1820. He died in 1899 in Kent County, Merlin, Ontario, Canada. Kit disappeared shortly after they settled in Elizabethtown, now Brockville, Ontario, believed to have been kidnapped. No trace of her was ever found. Edward Jr., not much known of him, other than John saying all he wanted to do was sit around and clean his rifle. John married Elizabeth Smith of Northumberland County, Ontario. They had 10 children, only six living to adulthood.
