I have enough info to have gotten Irish citizenship, but I am interested in more. My great grandfather was Matthew kennedy, died an Ahascragh around 1915. His spouse was , I believe, Mary Pender., married 1872 approx, maybe in Clonbrook. Children Michael Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, and Catherine Ford (1876-1956), my grandmother. Other names in the tree ar Forde, sometimes Ford, Lally, Duane, Burke, Pender/Pendar.
belive Matthew was a farmer or shepard, leased a farm to North of Ahascragh. I do have a location i can provide later in the week. We're coming to visit in summer of 2015, so I'm looking for other details. Also, I would be interested in hiring concultants to finish my project.

I located the 1901 and 1911 census records for the family. They lived in Mountain townland Ahascragh civil parish. Looks like Matthew was a farmer. 1911 census indicates that they had 8 children and six were living in 1911. I also located the 1872 civil marriage index record. You can get a copy of this record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1872. if you want to get a copy, let me know and I can forward instructions.

Hi Al
The record of the marriage from www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site) is below:
It doesn't copy well so Mathew's address is Castlegar occupation Farmer age 25 so born 1846 or 47
father Patt
I couldn't find a baptism record for Mathew with father Pat in Galway around 1846 or the death record.
The Tithe Applotments (free site) have 3 Kennedys in Ahascragh 1824
Griffiths Valuation (also free) has around 20 Kennedys in Ahascragh also.
I have a cd Memorials of the Dead Galway & Mayo. There are a few Kennedys in AUGHAVALE OLD Cemetery but no Mathews.

Roger and father Patt,
Thank you for the info. Roger, I would like to obtain that record if you could be so kind as to forward the info.
Patt, the link went to a site that wouldnt come up, but thank you for taking the time.
I do have Kate Kenedy's Birth Cert, 2 December 1876, and it does say Mountain.
Also, I am tracking down Ford and Duane in Lackalea, near Loughrea. I hope to visit the farm, cemetaries and any other significants site while visiting.
Thank you

I will give you the instructions but the info that Col provided above is the info you will find on the actual record.
Go to this link https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
print, out the marriage form, fill out the form to the best of your ability, include the following info from the index record: year of marriage, registration district and volume and pahe number.
Make sure you just ask for a copy. You have to mail the request to the address in Co. Roscommon but you can ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back.
