My Great Grandfather was born in County Cork Ireland in 1860.  I do not know where to

find the name of the parish or the town in which he lived.  The only information I have is that

he was born in 1860 and was Roman Catholic.  His name is Edmund Joseph Fox.  He emmigrated to

England and married in 1883 to Mary Teresa Kelly(from Limerick).  He died in the UK in 1910.

I checked the Roots Ireland indexes for an Edmond/Edmond Fox baptism from 1855-1865 in Co. Cork. I found one record for an Edmond Fox parents Patrick and Margaret in the Kildorrery RC church records. There are three civil parish that correspond to Kildorrery RC parish: Kildorrery, Carrigdownane and St. Nathlash. Kildorrery is by far the largest of the three parishes.

    Roots is a subscription site.

Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to put all RC parish registers online for free searching.

I checked the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Patrick Fox and there was a Patrick Fox listed for Scart townland in Kildorrery civil parish.

What you can't tell is whether the father of Edmond was leasing land five years before Edmond was born.

Let me know if you have questions.
