I'm trying to find information/ confirmation about my ggrandfather's beginnings. He was born 1846 in Ballinahinch, James Joseph Kennedy to Patrick Kennedy (?b.1818) and Margaret Grace (?b.1826). It may be that Patrick died at about 30 and his widow and son left for America from Cork. Any information about this family would be wonderful. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I saw this message after I responded to your other message. The civil parish for Ballinahinch is Killoscully which is a good distance away from Aglishcloghane. Did the family move at some point?
For your reference, here is the 1850 griffiths for Killoscully parish. One Patrick but no Daniels.

Thank you Roger for your help. All I know at this point (from an old family letter) is that my ggrandfather James J Kennedy was born in Tipperary around 1846 and emigrated to America at the age of 5 with his mother Margaret Grace. I found them on a passenger list from Cork, but wondered why they were not accompanied by his father. I wondered if he had died. I went on rootsireland and found a marriage between a Patrick K and Margaret Grace and a birth record for my ggrandfather in Ballinahinch. There was a Patrick that died aged 32 and buried in Aglishcloghane (plot 13). I'm trying to piece together more information to get a better picture of the family. Ironically, I visited Ireland for the first time last September, but didn't have any of this information at the time. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much. Marion
