Hi
I am hoping someone may be able to help, I am trying to find a birth/baptism record for my gg grandfather in the hope I may find his parents.
His name was Martin Maye born c 1841, I know from his wedding certificate to Bridget Ansboro his father was called John. I understand from family he may have been born in Quarryfield which I am told comes under Bunninadden , near Ballymote, I have tried family search, contacting the RC churches but never get a response, I would just love to know who his parents were and if he had any siblings. I know about his life after his marriage that is all.
If anyone has any suggestions or even knows of the family I would be so grateful

Lynda:
Quarryfield is in Cloonoghil civil parish. In the mid-19th century, the corresponding Catholic church was Kilshalvey, Kilturra and Cloonoghil. According to Roots Ireland, they have records for that parish starting in March 1842. I checked on Roots and they don't have a Martin Maye baptismal record for Co. Sligo in that period. Likely he was born before March 1842.
I did find an 1844 baptism for a Catherine Maye, father John in the Kilshalvey/Kilturra/Cloonoghil church. Possibly a sibling?
Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to put the RC parish registers online for free searching.

Thank you, Martin and Bridget had 5 daughters - Marie, Bridget, Annie Teressa, Catherine, Winifred and Margaret and 3 sons Thomas Killerby (my great grandfather) John and Michael his wife Bridget's father was called Pat on marriage certificate. I have been looking for a pattern in the naming but again not getting anywhere.
Thank you for your help, I will keep eye on records coming online
