Trying to find relatives from Dundalk, Hanlon/o'Hanlon and McCoy, my great grandmother's sister married a Mc Coy they had a son called Charles, they lived around the areas of Bridge St, Mary St.
The Hanlons had 10 children Mary,Elizabeth, Bridget, Ann, Margaret, Edward, Thomas,Bernard, William, Joseph, I'm hoping that some of their relatives are still to make contact with them.
Charles Mc Coy is listed in the 1901 census as being aged 8 yearsand he was in his cousins house in Shiels Court Dundalk on the night the census was taken.
Where was Shiels Court in realtion to the above named streets? any information is greatly appreciated

The names you gave are common O'Hanlon as it is associated with that part of Ireland where they once ruled in times long gone and McCoy which is unusual. See this website for general info on Louth http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/ I also searched the Irish online phone book for McCoys in Dundalk and got 7 hits, see http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/ be sure to select residential.
You could try a letter to either local newspaper http://www.dundalkdemocrat.ie/ or http://www.independent.ie/regionals/argus/
Shields Court appears to have gone but for a small fee the local library may assist, see http://www.louthcoco.ie/en/Services/Library/Genealogy-Research-Sources/ A small fee should not be more than $10 for a search.
For information on the towns history etc see http://www.clahs.com/ again a small annual fee applies.
Dundalk would have a population of about 30,000 so is a large town by Irish standards and I understand the county in general has links with New South Wales.
