UPDATE: I now know where the following were born, who their parent's were, who they married, who their children were and when they died.
I have a grea great grandmother Catherine Daly born in Ireland in 1845 and immigrated by herself to NY in 1863. I have no idea of her family or her town.county of birth.
She married: (in Yonkers around 1866)
Bernard May born somewhere in Ireland in 1845 and immigrated by himself in 1863 to NY. He was a groom and became a blacksmith and wheelwright in Yonkers.
I have no idea of his family, town or county.
I think they were Catholic, but not 100% sure.
With so little to go by is there any chance of finding out anything?

Sherrie:
First, a good number of RC churches did not have records back to 1845. I checked the Roots Ireland indexes and there were 27 Catherine Daly/Daley baptismal records in Ireland just in 1845. Without knowing the parents names, you would not be able to narrow down the possibilities.
Bernard May was just the opposite. No baptismal records in 1845 in all of Ireland. There was an 1847 record in Co. Armagh. Again without the parents names, it would be difficult to confirm.
I assume you have looked at their death records for possible names for parents?

Thank you for looking.
That's a problem too. Yonkers, NY seems to be an entity all it's own. Unlike everywhere else in NY, you can only get records from Yonkers clerk's office. It had a fire.
So far, the only church who has responded to me - had a fire.
With a name as common as May it is going to be slow going. Could you possible send me a copy of the Bernard May even if it is the wrong date? If the father is a blacksmith or a groom, it might be the one.

Sherrie:
Roots has a transcription of the record not the actual record. The actual baptismal record would not show the occupation of the father. (I can't see the transcription without paying for a Roots subscription).

Roger,
The Bernard May you found for me is my Bernard. He was born in Armagh and I now have his parents names. Thank you for the help you gave me. The Roman Catholic parish records that are now available gave me the confirmation.
My Catherine Daly is still a mystery - no luck there. but I did want to follow up and let you know how much I appreciated the information you supplied.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad I could assist. Have you looked into autosomal DNA testing as a way to identify matches that may have Daly connections?

Hi again, Roger!
I'm still hunting for my Catherine Daly, but I think I may have a name for her father now. "Joseph".
I have found all the brothers and sisters, mother, father, aunts, uncles, and grandparents for my Bernard May. All the children are named, first child after father's father. First daughter after father's mother. Second son for paternal grandfather, etc. If it holds true, then the third son, who's name is Joseph, would have been named for Catherine's father.
I know I'm asking a lot, but would you mind doing a looking up to see if there is a Catherine Daly born 1846 with a father by the name of Joseph?
Thank you for all your help!

Hi it me again and I'm sorry I'm such a pain, but I have just found Catherine Daly's (my great grandmother) Death Certificate. On it, it states her parent's names are John Daley (aka Daly) and Alice; either Welsh, Welch or Walsh. It's not very clear.
It says she was born in Waterford Aug 14, 1849 (but the date may be off because in every census it's different ranging from 1844-1847, but never 1849). I can upload the DC if it would help.Is there a possibility that you might be able to help me one more time? I'd be very grateful!
