I have recently found that my 3x great grandparents lived in Kildrina, but I can't find what type of a residence that is in the tithe books or other lists that I've searched. Is it part of Bagenalstown, Ballyellin, something else?
What I know about them: John Ryan married Elizabeth Keefe and had at least 8 children that I know of: Mary (b. ca. 1821); Betty (1823); Johanna/Julia/Judith (1824, my 2x gr. grandmother); James (1826), Mick (1829); Catherine (1831); Bridget (1834); and Michael (1837). I found this information in the Dunleckey RC church records from Bagenalstown Parish. Their residence in all cases is listed as Kildrina.
Any information or direction you can provide would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Mary Beth:
I think you are looking for Kildreenagh townland in Dunleckny civil parish. The townland is 555 acres in size. Dunleckny parish is in the middle west of Co. Carlow. The catholic parish for Dunleckny is Bagenalstown parish as you indicated.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Dunleckny civil parish.shows four Ryans including a John but none are shown in Kildreenagh.

The 1825 Tithe listings for Dunleckny civil parish shows four Ryan entries but none in Kildreenagh.
There were no Ryans in Kildreenagh in the 1901 census.
Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks so much Roger. That must be it. And thanks for going the extra steps in looking at Griffiths and the Tithe listings. The tithe listing are frustrating, when they are there but not listed. I understand that's becuase they didn't want to be listed, or were somewhere else at the time, or just weren't big enough?
