My 4x-great grandfather Patrick McMullen was born in Parish Armoy, County Antrim, Ireland in about 1777, based on gravestone information. He and his family emigrated to the United States in the 1820s, settling in Perry County, Ohio where he farmed, raised 5-6 children, then died on 04Sep1856. Gravestone markings are the only clue I have found that mentions his ancestral Parish. Any information about Parish Armoy and County Antrim, and the McMullen family, in the 1770s-1820s greatly appreciated.

Thomas:
Armoy is a civil parish in north Co. Antrim. All three churches in the Area: RC, Church of Ireland and Presbyterian do not have records back to the time period that your McMullens lived in Co. Antrim.
The surname McMullen is very common in that area. See the 1862 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the parish http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/antrim/armoy.htm
Sorry I can't provide any constructive information.

Thank you for your response. I am not surprised that records are not available from this time period.
My next effort is to (1) obtain as many photos of the region as possible and (2) locate as many published McMullen family histories as I can find.
