Catherine Donnelly Christened 1814
Thomas Donnelly Christened 1825
Their brother, William Donnelly emigrated in 1849 to New York, USA.
All of these siblings are the children of William and Mary (Ryan) Donnelly.
Is there any record of marriages of Catherine or Thomas in the Parish of Murroe and Boher?
Thank you,
Jeannet

Hi Jeannet
There are 4 marriage records for Catherine in Limerick 1840 + - 10 years on www.rootsireland.ie/ but only this one is from Bohermore:
There are 5 records for Thomas 1855 + - 10 years but none from Murroe or Bohermore.
However it was customary for the marriage to take place in the bride's parish.

Several families of Donnellys arrived in the wilderness of early Northeastern Pennsylvania, USA in the 1820 to '30's. In the 1830 US census three separate Michael Donnellys reported in the Township of Choconut, PA. My research has verified 4 Donnellys through wills and later census documents:
Michael Donnelly 1776 County Clare - 1841 Choconut, PA
- wife Honora
Michael Donnelly 1785 County Clare - 1844 Choconut, PA
- wife Mary Ready or Reedy
Michael Donnelly 1798 County Clare - 1879 Choconut, PA
- wife Mary Sheehan County Kerry
Thomas Donnelly 1782 County Clare - 1845 Choconut, PA
- wife Anastasia
other Donnellys reporting in the US Census, but no wills found:
- Patrick Donnelly 1775 - 1844 Choconut, PA
- Dennis Donnelly between 1770 & 1780There are many connections proven among these Donnelly families in Pennsylvania, but I am curious about how so many people of the same surname from County Clare emigrated at virtually the same time? Of course, my ultimate goal is to find exactly where in County Clare they had lived. JIM

William Donnelly born 1816 in Murroe and Boher Catholic Parish, county Limerick Ireland has a sister Catherine christened in 1814 and a brother named Thomas who was christened in 1825. William was married to Margaret Laffan in 1839. William is the son of William Donnelly and Mary Ryan of Kishyquirk townland, Tithe Applotment record 1826. Records are found in the Parish archives online at the NLI.
Other Donnelly’s in those records are Patrick, Bridget, Anna and Ellen. The christening records of William and Margaret’s children: Mary Ann, Margaret, William, Patrick and Anna are also recorded there. William and Margaret and children emigrated from the Limerick Port April 1849 to New York. Bridget married John Dundon in 1833. William was a witness. William’s wife Margaret Laffan born about 1820 is from the same area. Other Laffans are found nearby in Eyon and Cahirconlish. I don’t know who her parents are. I believe she has a sister, Joanna Laffan who lives with these Donnellys in 1850 in Albany New York. Griffith Valuation does not show any Donnelly families in this rural area in 1851. With more people emigrating than dying during the famine causes me to ask: Are there any cemetery records for the county Limerick area (east of the city of Limerick) or if any one knows of relatives who emigrated also or stayed in Ireland or are there to this day…
