I am trying to find siblings and extended family of John Mcneill born about 1837 in Bushmills. His father being Charles Mcneill born 1808 Lisnagunniag and mother Mary Ann Gillespie born 1812 Lisnagunniag, they married in 1839. John Mcneill left Ireland for Australia around 1856.
Any help would be appreciated
Kath Davis (Ballarat, Australia).

Kath,
I suspect that the townland that the McNeills lived in was Lisnagunogue Lower.
The 1803 Agricultural census on Bill McAfee?s site lists a William McNeill farming in Lisnagunoge.
The tithe applotment records for 1824 list 3 McNeill farms in that townland (Charles, Daniel & Elizabeth who was probably a widow):
http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/antrim/tithe-applotments/billy-parish.php#M
Griffiths Valuation for 1861 lists a James McNeil with what looks to be a farm, plus a house and garden, a house forge and garden and 21 acres (plots 10l, 10p and 21) there, and an Aeneas McNeill next door farming 18 acres (plot 17).
Those farms today are just off the Whitepark Rd, on the north coast of Co Antrim.

There was still 1 McNeill family there in 1901:

And in 1911:

Family were Presbyterian. Nearest Presbyterian churches would be Bushmills, Mosside and Toberdoney.
Some probate abstracts for that family, taken from the PRONI website:

Kath, I ran across this newspaper notice while researching my McNeills from Lisnagunogue. Is this your John McNeill?
Belfast News-Letter, Saturday, Sept. 22, 1888 p. 3, col. 7
Melancholy Death of a Lisnagunagh Emigrant: An emigrant named John M'Neill, belonging to Lisnagunagh near Bushmills, has met with his death under extremely painful circumstances. The unfortunate man, while sitting on a wagonful of timber in Melbourne, tumbled unto the ground breaking his neck by the fall which occasioned instant death. The deceased man leaves a wife and nine children.

Hi there, I am particularly interested in your mention of Mary Ann Gillespie born 1812 as we are descendant from Elizabeth Gillepsie born around 1826, daugher of Daniel Gillespie of Lisnagunogue. Could this be the same family? Elizabeth married David Alexander of Lisnagunogue. Fingers crossed. Feel free to email me if you wish faulknerfive@xnet.co.nz

Fiona, Would you please post a contact address? I'd like to trade information. My McNeill line lived in Lisnagunogue lower until 1924.
