LOOKING FOR ANY INFO ON MURRAY FAMILY - FOUND WHAT I THINK IS THEM IN GRIFFITH'S VALUATION IN CHAPEL.  THEY LEFT FOR CANADA AROUND 1860, ALWAYS INDICATED THEY WERE FROM WEXFORD, BUT THAT IS ALL I KNOW.

THIS IS THE FAMILY AS I UNDERSTAND IT:

DENIS MURRAY B. ABOUT 1805

ELLEN KAVANAGH MURRAY B. ABOUT 1805

CHILDREN:

BRIDGET MURRAY

DENIS MURRAY

JOHN MURRAY

MARY MURRAY

ANNE MURRAY

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP ANYONE CAN GIVE ME TO LOCATE THEIR HOME PARISH.

The RC church corresponding to Chapel civil parish is Cloughbawn. Roots Ireland only has records online for about eight RC parishes in Co. Wexford and Cloughbawn is not one of them. Cloughbawn records start in 1816.

The good news is that the National Library of Ireland has announced that effective July 8th, they will have all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would search the Cloughbawn records when the records become available to see if you can locate your Murrays.

Thank you so much for this information.  I didn't know which RC church would be the one to look at as closest to Chapel so I am so happy to have run into this site (by accident!).  I had heard about the NLI records coming online soon and will now make a note in my calendar for July 8th.  Very excited to have that kind of info available as my family have been difficult to research in general.

Thank you again for being so helpful!

    Best regards from Toronto,

    Susan.
