Seeking the father and mother of James Duggan born in Limerick County, Ireland in 1819. And siblings, if possible. According to Abington Roman Catholic Parish Marriages: 1817 - 1870, James married Mary Guinane on Jan 15, 1845. One of the witnesses to James marriage was William Duggan. In the same record, a William Duggan married Catherine O'Brien on Feb 24, 1844, 11 months earlier. David Duggan married Margaret Coffey one day after James married Mary, on Jan 16, 1845. Two days later, Michael Duggan married Margaret Barry, Jan 18 1845. I would love to know if these men are all brothers.
James and Mary Duggan had 9 children. The first 5 are believed to be born in Murroe, Limerick, Ireland. Stephen, Apr 04, 1846; Mary Ann, 1847; Martin, Nov 10, 1848; Michael, Apr 24, 1849; and Timothy, Jun 26, 1850. All traveled to the US, possibly Canada, in 1852. Mary Ann died either aboard ship or shortly after arrival. Thomas, Jun 26, 1859; and Catherine, Jun 01, 1861 were born in Nebraska. George William was born Sep 03, 1863 in Denver, Colorado. George is my great grandfather.
Mary's father was Timothy Guinane. An acquaintance has that family tree.
Might Michael Duggan be born in 1810 -1814, first marriage to Margaret Wheeler? Having 5 children with Mgt. Wheeler: Catherine, 1834; Richard, 1836, Mary 1838; Michael, 1840; and Margaret, 1843. Michael marrying Mgt. Barry in 1844 and having two more children: Bridget, abt 1846; and Thomas, 1848. Michael with wife Margaret and children Stephen, Catherine, Michael and Bridget, immigrated to Illinois and held farms near Decatur and Dalton City, Illinois. Michael passing in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois.
Anything about James Duggan and his family would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Ginna:
I located an 1819 baptismal record in Murroe Boher for a James Duggan. Not sure if this record is for your James. There were no other sibling baptismal records in this parish.
On July 8th, the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would look at the Murroe Boher register at that time.

Roger:
Thank you! August lines up with the month documented in the 1880 US Census. I had seen that record in my searches, but the names of the father and mother were not available.
I am very thankful for this information and look forward to July 8th!

Roger:
According to Ireland Land Estate Court Files 1850 - 1885 Stephen Duggan and James Duggan each had land go through probate in June of 1852 in Limerick County, Ireland. This is the year that James Duggan (1819) traveled to the US.
Is there further information on this record, as to the location of the property. Or the parties who were involved in the Probate? There is no townland listed, as in the other Duggan listings in this record.
Thanks Ginna

Ginna:
I found the record and the lands were in Coolnehilye and Gurteencarney. James Russell was the other party. I'm trying to attach the file.

I have quite a bit of info on James & Mary Duggan, as Mary Guinane was the sister of my great-great grandfather. I found the old farm north of Denver & have a family letter, as well as names of other living relatives. I'd be glad to share...I need to dig out files & refresh my memory!
