I'm trying to find out if I have any cousins still living in Killeagh!
My great grandmother, Ellen O'Keeffe was born in 1896 in Killeagh to James and Ellen (nee Mahony). She married and moved to Roscrea.
According to my aunties (Ellen's daughters, in their 80's), two of Ellen's sistes married and lived in Killeagh.
Anne O'Keeffe, born in 1894, married Mr Barry. (From marriage records, i'm fairly certain his first name was David, and that the married in 1918.) They lived in Killeagh and had a large family - Anne, David, Marjorie, and Patrick are some of the names of their children.
Bridget O'Keeffe, born in 1899, married John Power in 1922 and lived in Killeagh. I don't know if they had children or not.
Ellen had 3 brothers, and I have no idea if they stayed in Killeagh or not. Denis (b. 1885), Peter (b. 1890), Thomas (b. 1895).
I'm planning a visit to Ireland in 2016 and would love to connect with family in Killeagh if anyone still lives there.
Thanks in advance for any help :-)

Jillian:
We do have a Parish Liaison in Killeagh. I will send him an e-mail and ask him to check out your message. You can check the online Irish phonebook for the three surnames of interest in Killeagh (make sure you use the Residential Tab). There is also a Facebook page for the RC parish which is below.

Jillian,
Apologies for not replying before this but there appears to be some problems with the new Irelandxo website and no messages were coming through to me.
I got into the site last night and saw your message but it took me till now to sort out getting back logged in to reply.
Just to let you know as far as i know all the Barry's you are looking for are gone from Killeagh but the good news is that Bridget O'Keeffe and John Power did have a family and one of them is still living in the next village Castlemartyr and i will make contact with them and see what they can supply.
Where are you living? also if you send me the outline of your family tree i will be able to check it out with the Powers.
Regards for now. Anne O'Neill. (anneoneillk@gmail.com)

Hi Jillian. I'm Ellen and James's great granddaughter. My grandfather was David Henry (Pat, the baby). We all live in Cardiff, Wales. My grampy had a brother and two sister - Jimmy, Kay and Nell. He married my nan, Valerie, and had three daughter - Diane, Jennifer (my mum) and Lynne. Please let us know what you find out. I know a little bit of James's move to the UK but I've struggled finding anything out about Ellen. Which sibling are you related to? Laura xx

Laura
I just see your message from October 9th.
Did you hear from Jillian? There seems to be problems with the site and the messages are not coming through to the people.
I know Jillian has been in touch with the Powers in Castlemartyr and if you send me your email direct to anneoneillk@gmail.com i will pass it on the them as going through the irelandxo site does not seem to be working great.
Hoping this gets to you at some stage. Anne.

Hi Laura (and Anne),
Just saw these messages! This website is not great at alerting people to new replies, is it? :P
Laura, I'd love to talk to you more and determine how we are realted! I haven't found your grandfather or his siblings in my research - if you email me at dramabug@gmail.com, I can send you what I have on James O'Keeffe and Ellen Mahony and we can try to make a connection!
:-)

OK, I think I figured it out, and now I'm excited!
Laura, I think you are the great granddaughter of James O'Keeffe and Ellen Mahony's oldest son James, who was born in Killeagh in 1882 and married Helena Caldeon (or Ellen Caldon) in Cardiff Wales in 1910.
I'm the great granddaughter of James' sister Ellen.
Email me and we can fill each other in on details :-)

HI Jillian and Laura,
Delighted to see you have made contact with each other and hope you sort out the family between you. If i can be of any help just ask me. As chairperson of the local historical group for the parish i would be delighted to see the finished tree.
Clare Doyle from irelandxo was in touch today as she picked up on my message. They have had problems with the new website and hope to have it sorted shortly when the messages should come through quickly.
Regards for now. Anne.
