Hello, I have two deaths for a MARGARET HIGGINS and I am not certain which would be my 3xg.grandmother? Family Search shows #1 MARGARET HIGGINS died 1874 age 58 Limerick vol 15 pg 281 #2 MARGARET HIGGINS died 1876 age 60 Limerick vol 20 pg 286. MARGARET HIGGINS resided in Rathkeale and was of the Roman Catholic denomination.
Is it possible someone could find out more for me please before I order the record? Was the death in Rathkeale and was she the widow of WILLIAM HIGGINS my 3xg.grandfather? Thanks so much for any help..... Sylvia BC Canada

I think you’ll have to order the 2 certificates to get the details you need. You can order a photocopy of each certificate from GRO Roscommon for €4. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
You have to download and print off the form. Then either post or fax it back to them. You can’t e-mail it to them. However if you want them to e-mail the cert to back to you, they will do that, so tick the relevant box.
Put the reference details on the form (anywhere). Don’t worry about leaving some boxes blank. As long as GRO have the location, name(s), year, quarter (where there is one), volume and page number they should find it.
Don’t expect too much information from an Irish death cert. Over and above the data you already have, you’ll get the address where the person died, their usual address if different, their marital status, cause of death and the informant. It doesn’t normally give you maiden names or parent’s names, nor spouse’s names unless the spouse happened to be the informant.

Thank you very much for the information Pat. Well I can rule the Margaret with husband John out, my Margaret's husband would be William. As she is in the workhouse and no husband is mentioned it is possible that this is my 3x g.grandmother. I shall try and locate workhouse records in the event that they have more inf on an inmate. Thanks again, much appreciated. .....................Sylvia Bc Canada
