I am looking for information on Edward BLEE from Taughboyne, Donegal born 1770. He may have had a brother, James born 1769. Edwartd married Bridget Donaghy in Ireland and they had six children: James 1822, Charles 1824, Hugh 1827, Mary 1830, Martha 1832, and John 1836. They were all born in Ireland. They immigrated to the US and were all in the 1850 census living in Philadelphia. I am hoping that you can help me. I found one land record for Edward in Castrues, Taughboyne, Ireland in 1827. Does any one out there recognise this name or have any information on who his parents or siblings may have been. I appreciate any help you can give, and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Lynda Lawler.

Lynda,
Griffiths Valuation has 3 Blee fmailies listed in Taughboyne in 1858 (Daniel, Jamers & John). There was 1 in the townland of Dundee and 2 in St Johnstown (generally known as St Johnston).
In Castruse there was a John Beal which may be a corruption of Blee. None there by the 1901 census. Unfortunately the RC parish records for Taughboyne (RC parish of All Saints) only start in 1843 so it may be very difficult to find any information on family from the 1700s.
Blee was not a common name in Donegal. Only 9 in the 1901 census. In Ballybofey and St Johnston.
