Hi -
My name is Kathy Almquist, I live in Orem, Utah, USA.
I have been searching for more information on the family/parents of my 2nd great-grandparents, Samuel Drain/Adrain and Jane Lowry/Lawry.
Samuel was born in Octobr (I think) 1827, maybe in Londonderry, and died 18 Jun 1907, in Ruskin, Nuckolls, Nebraska, USA.
Jane was bor in 1834, also maybe in Londonderry, and died on 14 Aug 1900 in Ruskin, Nuckolls, Nebraska, USA.
Samuel and Jane were married on 7 Jun 1849. I found their marriage in the Ireland Marriage Returns 1849, District of Coleraine, their residence was Glenmanus, Londonderry, Parish of Ballywillin. They were married in the Presbyterian meetinghouse. The record states that his father was Wm. Drain and her father is listed as Sam. Lowry. It says that both fathers were farmers. The Church address is/was Ballywillan Manse, 95 Gatside Road, Portrush.
Samuel's obituary says that Samuel and Jane immigrated to the U.S. in 1851. I think it may have been earlier but I don't know!!!
I would truly like to find more information on this family and their parents/ancestors.
Any help will be greatly apprerciatedd!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located the 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ballywillin civil parish and there was a William Adrain in Glenmanus townland http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/derry/ballywillin.htm You can go to www.askaboutireland.ie to get more details on his holding.
I searched for baptismal records in Co. Derry for Samuel and Jane with no success even though Roots Ireland has the Presbyterian records for Derry city churches in their data base. maybe they were baptized in another church.
