I am seeking the parents of Martin Kelly, born abt. 1811, although his age, according to the census, his obituary, and his gravestone, falls anywhere between 1796 and 1815. We believe he was born in County Kilkenny and schooled in Dublin.
He and his wife, Catherine Doolan of Raheen, County Laois, were married in Gowran Parish and baptized their first born son in Tullaherin Parish. They named him Patrick, perhaps after Martin's father (?). Their other children were born in Canada. They named their boys James, Michael, Thomas, John, Martin and Edward. Female children's names were Margaret, Anne, Catherine, and Mary.
Any help in identifying Martin's parentage would be so appreciated.

RE: Kelly family
I have checked several records and found this
Margaret Kelly born 06-Mar-1857 Leixlip co Kildare
Catherine Kelly born 29-Apr-1849 Tullamore co. Offaly
Parents of both girls are Martin Kelly and Catherine Doolan
Found a marriage of a Martin Kelly and a Catherine Doolan, marriage date 1 August 1843 in Kilcormac Co, Offaly, no parents names mentioned.
You mentioned that the couple married in Gowran so maybe this is not the same couple, what is the source of the marriage information you have?
There are 10 people with the name Martin Kelly baptised in co.Kilkenny between 1796 and 1815 unfortunately

Mallow Cork,
Thank you so much for your help.
I finally found the Gowran marriage record of Martin Kelly and Catherine Dooling--I had been given wrong information so it took me awhile. Their marriage date was on the 30th day of October, (not January, as I had previously been told) in 1839. After her name is the mention of "Raheen," apparently in County Laois. Their firstborn, Patt, is cited in Thomastown records, on Sept. 13, 1840. Both records I found here!
Catherine's surname is recorded as Doolan, Dowling and Dooling. She had a brother, Matt Dooling, who was Patrick Kelly's godfather. I do not know the identities of the parents of Catherine and Matt, nor have I been able to ascertain the parents of Martin Kelly.
I visited Kilkenny in 2013 and found the graves of my children's ancestors . . . we buried their father's ashes with the O'Learys in Outrath Cemetery. To discover that the Kellys may have lived near the O'Learys was a surprise . . . five generations later and a continent apart, their gg-grandchildren married. So I am on a quest to find the parents of my gg-grandfather, Martin Kelly.
