John Hoban emigrated to Australia with wife Elizabeth Neale and children Patrick and Maria in 1853 on the Charles.
He arrived in Melbourne and lived in Collingwood.
He came from Carlow and named his Dairy the Carlow dairy.
He died in 1863.
The only John Hoban in Carlow that I could find on the Griffith evaluation was in this Parish.
Hope someone can help
Cheers
Helen

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I found the marriage on Roots Ireland in the Bagenalstown RC church in 1835. See transcription below. I located three baptismal records for children: Patrick December 20, 1835 in Leighlinbridge RC church. They were living in Rathellin townland. Thpmas March 20, 1842 Leighlinbridge RC family in Ratellin and Catherine December 22, 1844 in Leighlinbridge RC. At that time the family was living in Leighlinbride. I did not find Maria.I'm guessing Thomas and Catherine died young?
Here is the link to the Lieghlinbride RC register. I would look for other children and the three I mentioned above.

I forgot to mention that you are in the correct civil parish. The Griffiths record is very likely for your ancestor.

Hello Helen,
I know your message posted in 2015 is getting a bit old now but I' just thought I let you know that John Hoban's wife Elizabeth O'Neil was the sister of my GGgrandmother Catherine Neil [c1816-1866] who married John Howard of Kings Co. and emigrated to Australia in the year 1841 on the ship "Lysander". John & Catherine's daughter Mary Jane Howard married Patrick Hoban. I have been research my Howard ancestry for some time and have found the Hobans family were very close. I've accumulated quite a bit of information on their lives in Port Phillip including info on the Hobans.. Please contact me if you are still interested in this family.
Regards,
Barry.

Hi Helen,
We seem to have a bit of a communication breakdown going on. I sent a reply email to you the other day with attached .pdf . Did you get it? If not I'm wondering if your email address is meant to have 'au' at the end? Or perhaps the attached file was too large.
Regards,
Baz
